Talking Canon eos1ds mk2 announced.

Just seen the above on this website www.dpreview.com & thought members might be interested.This camera is a 16.7mp model.

No launch date yet, but will I get on the waiting list tomorrow, it looks pretty AWESOME, should be a real challenge to medium format now.

interestingly if you do the sums the 20D has 22K pixels per sq mm and 1Ds mk 2 has 19K per sq mm. That is 16.7 divided by (36X24) and 8.2 divided by (22.5x15) so if 20D was full frame, i.e 36X24 mm it would be 19 megapixels
now that would be awesome, however there is the airy disc size to take into account and the 1Ds MkII would have far superior image processing.

it has been advertised around 6k for the body only.
Don't forget if the bird or whatever hangs around long enough, you can take 2 close up images of it and stitch them together.

I have quite a few 12-16mp pictures of different birds. try it...
Obviousley it is not the same as having the real thing, but it will give you an indication of the quality you might get!!
