SX40 case
Has anyone got a case for their SX30 or SX40 that they would recommend?
I am after a case that’s big enough to take the camera with the lens hood attached. I want to be able to pack it in rucksack and not worry about it getting damaged in transit. Regards Paul |

Can the lens hood be put on backwards?
The case I use is this one, it fits the camera fine with space for the neck strap. It fits my SX40 with the lens hood on backwards, not sure about forwards. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Track-P...2470960&sr=8-3 Perhaps the larger one would fit it with the lens hood on forwards, but I'm not sure. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Track-P...2470974&sr=8-4 It's a case that's fine for me. The camera fits in snugly, it's made of decent quality material, the shoulder strap is adjustable and comfortable enough. It has no zips, just velcro and clip so it's quick and easy to get it out when needed. EDIT: It does have a small zipped compartment on the front, but no zips when it comes to opening the main storage compartment. Last edited by Ben Markham : Monday 16th July 2012 at 20:40. |

The lowepro 140AW should be more than big enough. I have a smaller version (110AW) for my old Pana Superzoom, but I am not sure the hood will fit with that one

The official Canon case (which also fits the SX30) is the Canon PSC-4100. One US link is: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-lxWnldD...Soft-Case.html. However, it does not appear that you can buy them in the UK.
I ordered one from DigitalRev for £11 delivered (!!) and it arrived within two weeks. I can't offer an opinion on it as I handed it to someone who was borrowing my SX40 the day it arrived, but I will be getting it back this week. But as I say, it appears to be the "official" Canon case. Link here: http://www.digitalrev.com/product/ca...MTAwMDY2OQ_A_A. Of course, other cases may be better, especially if you want to leave the (extra) lens hood on as I don't think the official version allows for that. But thought it might help others..... Michael.
