Your use of colour to create atmosphere is beautiful as always.

Agree with Mike, despite your 'download' issues, good to see your still producing tasty pieces...

Thanks Andrew, I think I have the down load thing figured out now, I can do it all by iphone which is all the connection I have now unless I go out for wifi. The last upgrade from the ios seems to have taken care of it.

about the light, I saw this very often at the Sonoma coast but so far never in Oregon

thanks Tim
whats beautiful is to be in this group at the feet of masters and masters to be and have a chance to grow as a painter, inspired by all thats posted here

one of the first seascapes of this coast, I don't know but the Orkney's probably don't have the long shelfs of coastline like here. I know Sonoma coast did not, but due to these long shelves the wave roll in a long ways don't have the knack of it yet...but time will tell.

All three of these latest are little slices of impressionist heaven.

Agreed, tis quite ethereal. There is a very delicate quality to the painting, which is glowing with light, quite wonderful...

thanks Alan and Oskar....I just found out tonight that my latest seascape the last one posted below, got into a national juried show in CA. the show attracts a lot of top artists so it feels good to be included. I hope it sells as I have to buy a frame and ship it, but the good thing is at 6x6 inches it can ship easily. The show is called 6 Squared because every painting is 6x6, its an odd size to work in and I just got started painting again after a long lay off for all the moving and life changing that has gone on

you can google Randy Higbee Gallery Costa Mesa CA if you are interested, they've been putting it on for a few years. One cool thing is this area is a big money place with lots of art collectors, so hope it sells.

Today was the first really big storm of winter so of course I had to go out and there are other nutters out there too. 70MPH wind gusts rain and 16 foot waves made for a spectacular show I found a new spot up north about 10 miles called Boiler Bay, aptly named too, you can find o google earth Boiler Bay Or

I could barely stand up in the wind so no plein air :-) but I'm going to figure out a way to paint in Prince ( what I named my SUV) The foam burst in the photo became about 30 feet high what you see is just the start of it.

Absolutely beautiful - the colours you introduce should not work, but you integrate them expertly and succinctly; everything harmonises perfectly. This road you're on is winding through some very fertile territory.

Hadn't thought of it that way Tim
The old master painters used to say as long as the values are right color doesn't matter much maybe that is an explanation of sorts

nice to have the company Arthur,

Here is a work in progress, way over my head, hope to somehow pull it off. Its a try from Boiler Bay in high surf....struggleing with the comp and all the intricate wave action...let this dry and try one more layer to get it working. Pland on some gulls if I can to give scale
