Inkcap without its shaggy bits?

Cannot think of any other way to describe this. These photos was taken in a beechwood today. My friend says that they are shaggy Inkcaps without their outer layer but I am not so sure as it seems odd that they should look so similar at different stages of growth. Is she right or are these something else?
MAny thanks

I don't know much about fungi but these look very dodgy; not inkcaps - maybe a type of agaric?

yes Andrew an agaric is just what I thought they looked like. The photo on the right is coming out of the ground with brown underbits just like the other one. It would be pure white if it were an inkcap. In proportion to the height of the stem the cap also isnt big enough.

Psilo and his friend were near-enough right in the first place.

This is the Magpie Ink-cap, Coprinus picaceus.
Nice photographs of a good find.

A quick Google came up with http://perso.club-internet.fr/sevlau...s_picaceus.jpg
