Stone Curlews in Donana
Hello all.
Whilst on a bird tour today I found a winter flock of over 80 Stone Curlews in the northern marshes region. The birds were in a large field at distances of 70 - 100 metres away from the road and were highly visible. Experience tells me that these will be joined by others over the next few weeks and will remain in the same location for the next five months until they disperse to their breeding sites in March/April. In previous years the flock has totalled over 150 birds, always using the same field, so I am hoping that the same number will gather this year. Has anyone else had experience of Stone Curlews in these numbers. "Reader. Contact me for details for your November trip" Regards from Donana. John. |
