Glossy Ibis!

Anyone know what happened to the much-travelled Glossy Ibis that arrived ( I believe!) at Budleigh, moved to Topsham then on to Breydon?
I saw it several times down to 5' at GM and twice at Breydon, the last occasion being when it flew N in front of my car on the Acle Straight!

I'll have to wait til next summer to try again. Yes, According to Sibley Guide, Glossy Ibis range overlaps my hometown, so, this is the top bird on my Most Wanted list.

I'm not sure anyone remembers, but when I first started out, I got my first guide (a Sibley) and it showed lots of nice birds. Some of those birds were so colorful I would kill to see one in the wild. The top bird at the time was a Green Heron, and after 5 months of birding, I began to realize that I may not even see one. The map in Sibley showed the range overlapping my area, so I thought, "If the range includes my area, I will be guaranteed a sighting in my area." After giving up on finding one, on May 11, I was down at the pond and noticed a bluish glint of movement in the shadows on the opposite side. Since I couldn't tell whether or not I was hallucinating (too much time looking for a Green Heron in the first place), I decided to snap a picture. The camera, in theory would see what I couldn't. So snap went the shutter. I looked at the LCD screen, and what do I see but a Green Heron!!! This day also saw other lifers, which were Grey Catbird, Wood Duck, Solitary Sandpiper, and the aforementioned Green Heron. Besides the lifers, I saw another 10 species that day, all year ticks, including Great Blue Heron, Northern Cardinal, and Downy Woodpecker, to name just a few.

So if I keep hoping, maybe someday I'll see a Glossy Ibis. My Most Wanted Bird right now.
