Good scope for a Canon 5D

Hello, I currently have a Spacemaster 2 and can't get the mount to fit on my eyepiece. I was hoping to use this scope to try digiscoping but it's not working out. I wrote about the problems here: http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=257870

My equipment is: 5d MK1,t-ring for it, tripod, and release cable.

Can anyone recommend an alternative scope? I want to shoot birds and planets. My budget is 1k max, but preferably lower.

Thanks.

Yeah, I am once again trying to get in the market for a scope, and had the same question, as I hope to be upgrading to a 5d pretty soon. That being said, I'm guessing this question has been posted and discussed a good deal already.

For planets you will need a tracking device. Most amateur astronomers photograph planets and moon not with a camera but with a simple webcam. The best images are choosen and stacked, which gives excellent results.
