Linnet or redpoll ?
Hello,
I saw a bird very briefly in my garden (Kent) but saw enough to see a red cape. It flew off before I could see too much more. The rest of it looked very ordinary dark dusky grey. I'm guessing it was a linnet as there has been a female in the garden before. However this bird did not appear to have red on its chest like linnet. Would that make it a male juvenile? I know redpolls are a very much outside bet and I am wondering if it could possibly have been one. I've never studied a male linnet before to know them that well. Any ideas based on my description? Thanks, Tim Before anyone suggests otherwise it was definitely a wild bird going by its behaviour. |
