Snow....!

I see a few journalists saw their first snow of the year today ! Snow, in February, really, what a scoop. And it was cold too. I expect they'll be telling us that the sun rose in the east this morning next.

Yup this snow seems to be catching everyone out, why? local news item about 3 Durham police vehicles going out to rescue a pregnant woman stuck in snow in her car. TV film team in one of the police 4x4's which along with the other two you've guessed "got stuck in the snow" much to the embarresment of the police driver (and methinks Mercedes) and all caught on film. The woman manged to get home, all 3 police vehicles had to be rescued by a civilian rescue service. (An absolute gem)

Yep never ceases to amaze me how people drive in the snow and Ice.......people should be used to it up here but the number of crashes on a good icy night just in this part of the Strath alone never ceases to amaze me. One car last weekend on its side in a ditch right next to a new permanent "Ice Warning" sign the council put up this winter!
I think one of the biggest causes is the rise in 4*4 drivers who seem to think that they are invincible. Get a layer of ice under your wheels and it doesn't matter if you've got 4 driving or 20, you still ain't getting any grip on the road so you're going to slide if you take that bend too quick.

Well that's what they like to think which is why they end up flying through a fence and landing on their roof.

Had most snow in ages here...on Wednesday. Huge amounts - 20cm or more were forecast everywhere in Kent on Wednesday night and huge travel disruptions likely. NO snow came, at all! Huge disappointment when everyone expected to be snowed in!

Also, snow is falling up to 2 miles away from my village and we don't even get a dusting!!

Yo Henry, she was out visiting or something, the pregnant bit made it important and yes she was rescued by a farmer and tractor.
