This bird totally surprised me and by the time I reached for the camera he was a good distance away:-(

The bird was relatively small-like a mid-size Gull.

Hi Searobin,
Hard to tell with the accipiters - the angle of the shots doesn't help - part of me thinks Coopers (the kind of longish neck/head projection in the first pic especially) but the tail (shorter) says Sharpie more to me and the seeming lack of contrast between crown of the head and back coloration. Probably a Sharpie - I'm sure some other people will give you their reasoned thoughts though. Luke |

Trevor - its realtively short tailed for an accipter, the head look big in the first pic only - since its craning its neck. It looks like a chunky female Sharpie to me.

Could be a Sharpie because of the squareness of the tail in the bird. Cooper's doesn't seem to fit.
