May be it is too large? Try reducing its size.

Nice view of the sky! I would try Paula's suggestion and reduce it's size.

Definitely worth the wait. My missus would be proud of that and she loves gardening.

Talk about not making a silk purse out of a sow's ear!! You defied the common misconception there!

Smashing garden mate! No wonder you get so many winged visitors! Are those Bramblings admiring it?

How far are you out at sea? So much color in the flowers, wondereful. What kind of birds are the rose breasted ones on the right of the first picture? Your garden looks better than mine!

NCLADY,
Thanks we are approx. 190 miles from the nearest land and all the birds in the photo's are chaffinches, though I see the bird in the first pic. that Ashley thought may have been a Wheatear. Here is another pic. with a different bird. Dave |

Crickey! It looks like a Crossbill. Poor thing looks lost and lonely. I hope he found his way back home.

Hi Steve & Lubird.
Steve you are correct it is a Common Crossbill. Unfortunalely, in my experience they are one of the species that do not do well when crossing the North sea. Perhaps the shortage of food that makes them errupt leaves them in a weakened state to start with. Here is another pic. Last edited by david r : Sunday 2nd March 2003 at 10:42. |

Lovely photos Dave, and those plants are brilliant, someone's been busy.....
Are you travelling anywhere or just working in the north sea? Lets hope the crossbill made it across the sea fine, lovely bird.

Hi David,
Bet the birds are glad to have you there so they can stop and rest, and what a lovely rest place they find. Teresa
