Bald Eagles (group photo)
There are just a few Bald Eagles in this one. If you are getting sick of me posting these, don't worry, they will be gone in another three weeks. Taken with Pro90IS with B-300 and TCON 14, about 100 yards (91.44 meters) out , camera settings were 1/160 shutter speed, aperture/f-stop 8.0, exposure compensation was -1/3. http://www.pbase.com/image/13248677.jpg

Nice shot !, I manage to see 25 - 30 over the course of a two day trip to Lake Guntersville State Park in North Alabama. Most were in flight and it was cloudy all weekend, so not much luck there. However on Sunday afternoon it did clear up, but was quite windy when I took a side trip to the dam on the way home to view a nest there. Here's one image, a little soft.

Thanks Rosah. You are right, I never get tired of seeing these magnificent birds.
Paul, thanks. A little soft, but still a good photo. Hopefully I will not come off as too self-promoting here (especially since I mentioned something similar in your Hello! post, but since we both have a fondness for raptors...), but under raptors Gaye Horn and I have some pleasant raptor photos, and then we also have more under the gallery. (I apologize to others who have them and I cannot remember!) And as I mentioned, Marysan had some nice ones, particularly a very nice Osprey (under the gallery). I look forward to seeing more of your shots.

Brian, what a lovely group photo. It still seems strange to me seeing Eagles sat together in a flock.

A really lovely pic Brian. These birds look quite like our fish eagles (Halieetus vocifer) - do they also eat fish? Great profile Paul, pointing up the similarities.

Brian.
Keep em coming mate. How can any birder, worth his salt, ever tire of such magnificent birds.

Thanks Gaye, Ian, Sal, and John.
Gaye, I will plan on seeing you next year! Ian, come over here, and I will personally show you a huge flock of them (great for digiscoping). Or is 200+ too much? : ) Sal, yes Bald Eagles also remind me of the Fish Eagle. The Bald Eagle does eat fish, among other things. That is why they are here right now. The ice you see them sitting on in this photo is a huge fresh water pond. Beginning the end of January they let all of the fresh water out into the Great Salt Lake to control the Carp population. Hence, free food with little hunting required! I do believe that your Fish Eagle is larger than our Bald Eagle. John, I'm with you, I just do not tire of these birds. Will keep them coming for at least a few more weeks.

I'll look at your eagle photos ANY time you post them, Brian! How wonderful they are!
I love this one -- makes me think of eagles playing at being cormorants!

Thanks Beverly. I am still trying to get one with more eagles in it. This past week I saw 50 eagles in two trees and a fallen snag that had fallen, all in close proximity, but they were not very cooperative so I did not get the photo.
