banding in DC area USA

Im new into town anyone have any banding projects in the DC area anyone banding waders

Hi Skippy,

I should imagine contacting your local Audubon chapter would be the best bet. They run banding demonstrations here in CT.

They can put you in touch with leaders of current projects where you can vollunteer your time and expertise. As far as I know banding operations near the DC area involve passerines. There is shorebird [ wader ] banding in the Delaware bay and other areas along the shore. Notice that to band birds in the USA you need both Federal and state permits [or be under the supervision of a permit holder] plus a permit from the conservation unit [National Park, State Park, National Wildlife Refuges etc] if the banding is to be carried out in one of them.
