Hello, I noticed that the "crows" out West were much larger than E Tx, are they ravens? Looking at Sibley's they are much larger.

Also, the raven is chasing something, what is it?

Are the birds in the last photo California quail?

Thank you

Mike

Some will be Crows, and some will be Ravens, as we have both. At first glance it isn't always easy to tell them apart, and they are most easily distinguished from a distance by sound. Ravens are generally larger and sport a heavier bill, and for me at least, don't look as sleek as crows. Ravens can also be differentiated by tail shape, but that can be difficult sometimes depending on their activity.
