Small Bird in Dorset (1 Viewer)

I was in Dorset, England recently and was staying by the coast. For two days the bird pictured frequented the low undergrowth that surrounded the garden. It bobbed its tail like a Blackbird and was seen catching flies. Could anyone help id this bird?

Many thanks in advance,

Chris

Brown head and buff breast for female and 1st Summer female. A full male has a greyish head with more pink to the breast. Often it is hard to tell the sexes apart unless you get a good view

Yes, Common Whitethroat, a juvenile (cannot be sexed at this time) having almost completed the moult into first winter plumage.

Thanks for that Andy, my post was in response to post 3, e.g making a statement (female) without giving a reason. Seems from post 7 that the poster should not have made that claim in the first place.

Thanks for the info.

All the best

Dave
