The American Digital Imaging Association had announced the award within the framework of the 9th DIMA Digital Camera Shoot-Out for new products incorporating outstanding innovations in technology, application and design. The selection was made from the several hundreds of products that were on show at the American PMA trade fair in Orlando. With the award, the trade journalists praised the LEICA DIGITAL-MODUL-R for its high quality and forward- looking solution as the world's first digital back for 35mm cameras. Further information on the LEICA DIGITAL-MODUL-R at http://www.leica-camera.com/produkte...l/index_e.html __New brochure Leica R-system online Analog or digital? In the future, there will be only one answer. The LEICA DIGITAL-MODUL-R is a system accessory consisting of a digital back and a power unit that enables the analog SLR camera LEICA R8 and R9 to be converted for digital use within only a few seconds. All the high-performance lenses of the Leica R system made since 1965 can therefore now be used for both digital and analog top-quality photography. Further information on the LEICA DIGITAL-MODUL-R can be found in the new brochure Leica R-system. It is available as a PDF file. Further information on the brochure Leica R-system at http://www.leica-camera.com/produkte...f/index_e.html __New column by Erwin Puts now available! Current issue: LEICA VARIO-ELMAR-R 21-35 mm f/3.5-4 ASPH. The new column on the subject Leica R-lenses with technical features and backround information by Erwin Puts is online. The current column includes the LEICA VARIO- ELMAR-R 21-35 mm f/3.5-4 ASPH., a compact, lightweight zoom lens that covers the full range of the most frequently used focal lengths in the wide-angle range. Even at full aperture, both contrast and sharpness are comparable to those of lenses with fixed focal lengths. In spite of its compact design, the LEICA VARIO-ELMAR-R 21-35 mm f/3.5-4 ASPH. has an unusually high performance. That is due to the use of two aspherical surfaces and two lens elements made of high-refraction optical glass and glass with anomalous partial dispersion. With its highly practical range of focal lengths and its outstanding imaging performance, this lens masters especially those tasks for which one would otherwise need four different wide-angle lenses: From photographing people and their nearby surroundings to spacious landscape photographs with a great feeling of depth. < LEICA GEOVID 8 x 56 BRF The first 8 x 56 binocular with an integrated laser rangefinder With the new LEICA GEOVID 8 x 56 BRF, Leica is expanding the line of Geovid models, offering the demanding hunter an unmatched binocular that has been optimized for hunting from a stand at twilight and at nighttime. It was designed in close consultation with experienced European hunters, and it was tailored to their wishes. Highest optical performance, coupled with accurate laser rangefinding, combined in an extraordinarily compact binocular – handy, light, precise. Leica is the first optics specialist to succeed in combining uncompromising high-performance optics and a laser rangefinder in a particularly compact binocular. That makes the efficiency of the new Geovid 8 x 56 BRF stand out far above that of a classic binocular. > Unfortunately true field of view is only 118m/1000m. Walter |
