Anyone use this recently? How did it work?

Hi
I just called Nikon about the new LXL- a stiff focus knob. There answer was not a polite one- They said, "If the knob is stiff were not going to fix that, on the other hand if it is broken you would have to send it in to see if Nikon would fix it." He also said, "The focus knob on the LX is stiff but there is in nothing wrong with the LXL." I guess he didn't notice that the stiff focus knob for an 1100 dollar pair of bins was the problem. Don't believe the hype I assume Nikon's customer and warranty to be like their customer/ technical service personel- they'll do the minimum. If you want great customer service look at Swarovski but Nikon doesn't seem to operate that way. I do love Nikon optics, so I bear it but no one should have to when they say "No Fault Warranty." It's the way of the world I guess- Big profits, little people. Carlos Last edited by Zolarcon : Wednesday 27th April 2005 at 00:34. |

Hmmm. I've got a "mint" Nikon 10x35 E that's out of alignment. Guess Nikon is not the place to send it to since it's probably well within their cockeyed tolerances. I was thinking of getting an 8x32 SE, but that's out the window based on this bit of reality.

I sent in a pair of refurbished Venturer/LX's because the focus knob wouldn't do a thing and had them back within about two weeks. Didn't cost me a dime other than shipping and they were good as new when returned.
The note in the package said they also checked collimation and things were perfect. My one and only experience with them was positive. |

I, too, sent a damaged 8x42 LX back to them back in February. The focus knob was damaged and one of the inner lens elements had some type of residue on it. They fixed the focus knob and fully cleaned the lenses. I received them back 4 weeks from the date that I sent them. No charge but I sent the receipt. Without the receipt it would have been $10.
