Pomarine Skua in UK today?
Hi
Has any one heard what numbers of Poms passed Bowness-on-Solway, Cumbria and Aird an Rùnair, Balranald, N.Uist or any other sites today? Heard they had Long-tailed up there today also. Its gotten of to a very slow start for skuas here in Galway, Ireland this year. Only have had a single Arctic Skua so far! We had an exceptional year here in April/May 2002 with a total of 448 Poms (over five differnet days), at least 80 Arctics and a single Long-tailed but not a single Great skua (surprisingly rare here). Hi,
Just had an e-mail with a picture of a flock of 25 Pomarine Skuas from Bowness-on-Solway (the photo is on the scarce British birds page on the surfbirds website). My friend says they are nearly up to 50 Poms for the last couple of days. He went on to say that the weather looks favourable over the next couple of days for Long-tailed Skuas. |
