asian paradise flycatcher?

I was wondering if anyone can help me with an I.D of a bird I saw in Thailand a few years ago

Was not birdwatching at the time, and didn't have bins or anything. From the train in southern Thailand I saw a bird on a telegraph wire next to the track which looked like an asian paradise flycatcher. The countryside around was fairly open, mainly rice fields with a few trees

If anyone knows this species and could tell me whether this is a likely location for seeing one, I would be very grateful

Thanks!

Hi
I have seen asian paradise kingfisher on several occasions in Thailand and India. Always in or on the edge of a forest habitat. I am far from an expert though so maybe someone could suggest that it might sit out in the open.

Thtas the impression I got from reading up on it - maybe it was something else, but looking through the books I can't see anything else with such a long tail..

Hi

southern Thailand is so degrsaded habitat wise that it's entirely possible to see an APFly in the setting you describe

they're very distinctive so i'd go with your initial feelings

one of my all-time favourite birds! I saw one in India flying around a bush in a garden... not really forest habitat, more bushy garden.
