Moth ID help!

Hoping someone can tell me if I'm correct with this one. I spotted this moth yesterday afternoon in the garden fluttering about, I think one of the neighbours' cats had disturbed it. I thought it was a Lime Hawk-Moth, but on looking through books am now not sure as the pattern seems different on most of the pics I found on the wings. Having said that, some books say the pattern is variable, so could anyone confirm this ID or tell me otherwise? Thanks in advance!

Hello White Kite,

Your moth is an Angle Shades, and judging by the colour it is just out of the pupa, that beautiful green colouration fades rapidly to a brownish shade after a few days unfortunately.

It is a relatively common species and can be found more or less year round except for the very coldest months.

Harry.

The one in the top left of the picture is Ouchacus buggerithurtacus (The common Bandaid)

lol Yep that'll teach me to pull weeds up without any gloves. (A particularly large and violent thistle was hiding amongst even bigger dandelions).
