Oh the noise !!

Not really a birding day , more of a night , sitting here at the computer I have two of the noisiest Tawny Owl chicks , calling just outside the window , that I think I have ever heard in my life ! The two parents are feeding them on an obscenely regular basis so they screem for food even louder every 2 or 3 minutes when one of them comes back with probably a field vole as we have an unprecedented supply of them at the moment , they really being seen at all times of day and night . so noisy ? ...yes , but a good noise to hear ?...absolutely , it appears that our Tawnys are going to do very well this year .

Nice one Ashley. I must listen out for them here.

They regularly call very close to where I sit at the computer, and I have seen them in the garden on a couple of occasions.

About thirty yards away , just across from my " office " window !! , I'm sure they'll be here tonight as well , they were hatched/fledged in a huge horse chestnut tree in the churchyard that is maybe 70yds to my right . Having said that in the village we have no street lights and I can't really start shining high power torches around , I'd probably get arrested , so seeing anything other that noisy shadows might be difficult
