Shorebird ID
Photo taken in New Jersey, US. Not sure about the two next to the SB Dowitcher. Any ideas?

Hi Nick
The bird in the foreground is almost certainly a Short-billed Dowitcher. It has more white barring on the tail than dark and still shows quite a bit of breeding plumage (orange restricted to the neck-sides and upper breast). The 2 birds behind are Stilt Sanpipers - long slightly downcurved bills and very long legs give this species away! I have seen both species here in the UK where they are exceptionally rare, and also encountered both in Florida! Here's hoping this is of some use. Regards The Exmouth Birder |

I agree with Tim and Terry 100% on Stilt Sandpiper (Calidris himantopus). Nice photo by the way!
