Exclamation BirdForum at the BirdFair 2005

This year's birdfair is on August 19th, 20th and 21st at Rutland Water, and of course BirdForum will be there.

This year, owing in part to our growing membership, we have our very own marquee with room for well over 150 people, with tables and chairs to accomodate our members and visitors whilst they have lunch, chat, and meet each other. At present we expect the marquee will be situated adjacent to the optics marquee, but this is subject to change.

There are one or two events that may interest BirdForum members - they are as follows:

--------------

ASK THE EXPERTS EVENT
With Carl Zeiss
Friday and Saturday at 4:30 PM

Due to the popularity of our optics forum, BirdForum have arranged a member only event, where BirdForum members will have the opportunity to ask a range of questions to the Carl Zeiss binocular experts from Germany.

Stephen Ingraham will give a short presentation on how to get the most from
your binoculars in the field and this will be followed by the question and
answer session on both binoculars and spotting scopes. Carl Zeiss invite all binocular / spotting scope questions. This is not a 'technophiles' convention - everyone is welcome no matter what their expertise or choice of optics - the idea is to cover how to get the most from your optics! Of course, if there is anything you wanted to know about optics, now is you chance to ask the
experts directly.

Refreshments and light snacks will be available to BirdForum members.

This event is FREE of charge, however entry is by ticket only.

If you would like to attend the event on either Friday or Saturday, please reply to this thread expressing your interest, or email admin@birdforum.net. Tickets can be collected on the day from the BirdForum stand. PLEASE NOTE The Zeiss events are limited to 100 tickets to make seating comfortable!

--------------

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
With Nigel Blake
All Weekend, times vary

Nigel Blake will be in the BirdForum marquee to give lectures, tips and demonstrations on Digital Photography, along with various examples of his work.

Nigel will be very happy to answer any questions on digital photography and will have his equipment available for practical demonstrations. Pop in at any time to meet him.

--------------

DIGISCOPING
With Andy Bright
All Weekend, times vary

BirdForum's own Andy Bright will be on hand all weekend for any digiscoping questions you may have. As most of you are aware, Andy has been for many years a leading light in the digiscoping world, and will be happy to help you with this difficult technique.

Andy will be available throughout the weekend, although times will vary. Please listen to tannoy announcements for both Andy and Nigel.

--------------

There are a couple of other suprises for BirdForum members that have yet to be finalised - we will update you when we have news.

As usual, BirdForum will be offering its members free beers, wines, soft drinks, water and other various refreshments throughout the weekend!

We look forward to seeing you there,

BirdForum staff

Update

BirdFair 2005 Update

BirdForum is now pleased to announce that Simon
King, wildlife cameraman and presenter, will be giving the talk on "How to get the best from your binoculars" on Saturday.

Simon will also be on the Zeiss stand for most of the day so if you can't make it to the BirdForum marquee, you can catch him there!

May we remind you that the optics talks, including the one by Simon, are by ticket only. Tickets are free to BirdForum members. Please email admin@birdforum.net or indicate here if you wish to attend.

There are still a good number of places for all events, although they are now beginning to fill up.

Also, admin has had many requests from people volunteering to man the BirdForum stand. Unfortunately, these have been lost in an email purge (by you-know-who!!!) so if you did want to lend a hand this year, please email you-know-who (whose name begins with S and rhymes with Teev).

Best Wishes
BirdForum Team

That's a brilliant coup for Birdforum in getting Simon King involved. Congratulations to all concerned.

Hopefully Admin have already received my e-mail for the tickets and I very much look forward to helping out in any way on Saturday 20th.

I look forward to meeting some old and new members on the day.
