KENT birders - boat trips round Kent?
Dear all,
I was hoping to take a boat trip round the North Foreland with my wife as a combined birding and general day out but unfortunately the company doesn't sail in August. If anyone knows of any short boat trips anywhere in Kent I'd be most grateful. Thanks Richard

I'm afraid I can't help. I guess you've already seen the response from Richard Marchese to your query on KOSnet.

I see you are getting a few suggestions. I am sure if you need numbers to make up a boat BF members would be interested. You could count me in.

Thanks to those of you who contacted me regarding boat
trips round Kent. The charter trips look interesting for future reference, but in the interim I took a couple of more pleasure orientated trips. Both on the Kingswear Castle paddle steamer. One was from Whitstable to Herne Bay and back, with the other from Rochester to Darnet Ness and back. The first unsurprisingly didn't produce much in the way of birdlife besides the commoner gulls, Turnstones and Cormorants. The trip up the Medway on the Thursday was slightly more rewarding, with a few Common Terns and what I'm fairly sure was an Osprey near Kingsnorth Power Station. Whilst as birdwatching trips they weren't that productive, I can heartily recommend the trips as a relaxing way to pass the time, and should anything exciting be about the leisurely pace and open deck should give you a good view. Most of the sailings are from Rochester or Strood Pier: http://www.pskc.freeserve.co.uk/ Richard
