Have mercy, I've only been across the pond a couple of times 8-)

Try again -
1. Am Goldfinch
2. Yellow Warbler
3. Evening Grosbeak
4. Black-shouldered Kite
5. Herring Gull

as for 6. even with the extra pic - no idea! Looks like a Goldfinch/Siskin/Redpoll-type but can't think of one that fits that face pattern with dark wings and rearparts. I'll be happy if others are OK!

6 must be a male Evening Grosbeak then! That was my first thought, but I thought it looked too small.

How about Killdeer for #3?

7 is another American Goldfinch, I think

Tricky!

I assumed 6 and 7 were the same - if different, my am goldfinch is for 7 not 6.

Please put us out of our misery! It's well after midnight here!!

Edit-crossed with above post, I'll look again!

Red-throated Diver (or loon as you call it) - assuming what I thought was the other wing is actually a head and neck!!

Wow! Now that was a good mystery bird!

You know the interesting part is by coincidence I had a common loon fly right over me yesterday morning, though I didn't have a camera handy. Cool bird in flight too, as you know, with that big strong fat 9 lb. body, and those stubby triangular wings that are light colored underneath, and at around 20-21" each, aren't nearly as long as that 32" body...

You ARE having a good time with this thread, aren't you, photo_luver?
