More Elk Perils
Following on from the story a couple of months back when a driver was killed when hitting an Elk at night, another Elk story from the same town here in Lithuania.
Somehow, an Elk managed to get into the city centre of Klaipeda (the main town on Lithuania's coast) and then jumped off the high wall (in picture one) onto the road below, landing on the bonnet of a passing car. Though the driver was not hurt and the Elk not initially killed (picture two shows it sitting in the road by the police car) it was regrettably deemed the Elk to be badly injured and so was darted with a tranquilizer, putting the animal out of its pain and distress. Pictures from local TV, clicked at the screen ...sorry for duff quality of the first picture!

Jeez. Must have thought it was a river of some sort it was jumping into?

My friend once saw an Elk walking across streets of Warsaw (Poland) in early morning. Fortunately it passed through the city and was gone happily.
