Christmas in Grenada (West Indies) ?
Can anyone help with more info on Grenada than is available on the 3 trip reports I've found on the internet, please?
For instance, American warblers/other passerines in winter? I'm thinking of a short visit this Xmas. Or would Tobago be a better option? Many thanks. |

I have a report from a recent meeting saying that the Grenada dove is still present but in about half the numbers that were present before hurricane Ivan. Numbers are uncertain because the birds seemed stressed from the less than ideal environment; their favored habitat was damaged by the storm. Apart from that, I have not been to Grenada but e.g., US warblers are not common in winter this far down the chain of Lesser Antilles (I am in Dominica). I can only imagine that there will be fewer further south.
There are plenty of discussion of Trinidad and Tobago in previous threads here, so look those up. If you want to maximize the number of birds seen, Trinidad would get my vote. HTH Niels |

I think I may be able to use a local guide for my first morning- before he flies away on his holiday! Hope to pick up some more gen from him. John. |
