Now now Sylvia, just because you were in bed when the Crag Martin paid an all too 'brief' visit, there's no need for that!!!! Westport's already had 15 records of mega hirundines, Purple Martins just a tarts tick

Its not a Mistle Thrush is it? I'm not sure. Boylister is good at identifying mystery birds. I'm struggling. Is it sleepy or did a big size 10 doc martin accidently step on it? (oops spilling the beans now)

I think the most interesting aspect of the design shown by Samuel is the loud speaker broadcasting Purple Martin come hither noises. If it works for petrels, who knows, maybe we should be setting them up along the west coast of the UK?!

Come to think of it, perhaps the current lack explains why they have taken so long to colonize?

May be thats why we haven't managed to attract a Roadrunner yet to these shores because we haven't been playing any tapes to attract them!

Yes... But they'd probably all batter themselves to death against the light.

They might be even more successful along the west coast of the Republic of Ireland.
Referring back to the questions put to wroughtiron, I quite like his optimism. However, if people look after them so well over there, why would they want to leave America?

I think this whole idea from our American friend is based on the romantic Hollywood notion of (I forget the film) .....
....."build it and they will come"

I have my doubts, but just think if it works!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps so!

I think the movie to which you referred is "Field of Dreams", starring Kevin Costner. He built a baseball playing field in the middle of a corn field and players from the past came a played games there.
