3 surprises

for many years goldcrests have only arrived in my garden during the heart of the winter snow(surprise 1).So i was amazed when i looked out he window to see 3 of them in conifer(surprise 2). Id never really heard their song before..only their contact calls..which arent too desirable, but when the little fella flew to the top of the tree and delivered a beautiful rythmical song.:)

Isn't birding filled with wonderful surprises? Never ever boring and always a day filled with anticipation.
