Hi dineshagg

When i first glanced at these pic.s my immediate thoughts were red-breasted flycatcher. I guessed it was a sub-adult male - little grey around the head, pale breast/throat. On looking closer, a couple of things don't seem right. The orange seems to extend too far down the breast and more importantly extends down the flanks as well ( particularly obvious in the second pic. where the bird is head on ). This started me thinking of the possibility of female or immature Kashmir Flycatcher Ficedula subrubra. The bird also seems to show a pale base to both upper and lower mandibles which is i think good for Kashmir ( Red-breasted showing pale base to only lower mandible ). Any thoughts from anyone else ?

Hi John

I considered other flycatchers such as Blue-throated, but shouldn't they show pale legs and an all-dark bill ?

Hi, It's only a guess at BT. I'm probably wrong as BT's have pale legs. This bird seems to have an all dark bill to me....I don't really know...so I shouldn't guess!

Hi John

If you look closely at the first pic., the bird definitely has pale base to both upper and lower mandibles. This is hard to see in second pic. though.
