I recently acquired two small pieces of Limoges porcelain, hand- painted
with bird pictures, in the form of tablets or miniature tiles, as seen
at:

They're 6.5cm and 4cm across respectively, and in need of cleaning!

The tablets are marked "Meissner Limoges France" on their reverse sides,
the frames "Made in Denmark".

The smaller clearly depicts a Goldfinch, but what's the larger?

Can anyone tell me anything about the age or history of the items?

Yes; thank you. Further searching for that species suggests that my piece is "after" this picture by John Gould (who knew it as 'Yellow Rumped Parrakeet'); note the leaves to the right of the bird.
