Question little bird with a red 'cap'?

Hello,

I found this forum while doing a search trying to find what bird i saw in my bush in the back yard yesterday. I thought it would be easy to find, but apparently not.

I saw a small bird, the body was a grayish or brownish color, the wing tips and tail had some black on the edges, but the very top of it's head was bright red. Not the whole head, just the crown. Like he had a graduation cap on.

Any one have an idea what it might be?

Thanks :)
RLB

Hi RLB, welcome to Birdforum, on behalf of all the staff here.

If the bird was tiny - how about a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, http://www.birdforum.net/bird_view.php?bid=6825 ?

Cheers,

Andy.
