Now THAT's a moth!

Caught this Peach Blossom in my trap this morning. Hand's up all those who still think moths are dull brown things!

I've never been in that camp, so my hands are staying down. Fine moth that.

Some one on Cambirds (Cambridge birders e-mail group) has been asking where one obtains a moth trap, do you have any info that would assist?

I built my own, but you can buy one from Anglian Lepidopterists Supplies (sorry don't know the address) but, that is an expensive way of obtaining one. There are instructions for a self-build on the Atropos website which are easy to follow and can be printed out.

Never thought they were dull brown things, CJW, but this should certainly convert a few naysayers.

Fantastic!!!

Moth Traps

If you're put off buying a moth trap because of the price, just make your own. I found a lighting shop in Attleborough Norfolk that supplies one of the lep suppliers. One hell of a mark up. I got a choke (basically a transformer for MV bulbs), 2 MV bulbs, and a bulb holder for £12.50. Certain lep suppliers selling MV bulbs for £25 make a fair bit of money. You'll have to make your own box of course.
