This was a mystery bird for me yesterday. After looking at around 100 pics on the web I came to the conclusion that it was a juvenile Eastern Towhee. Could anyone confirm or debunc this? Thanks in advance for any help you could provide -

Yes, juvenile Eastern Towhee, just starting to moult into adult plumage (the single orange feather on the flank!)
For an easier way to look it up, I'd recommend Sibley's North American Bird Guide (Chanticleer Press Inc, 2000) Michael

In furtherance to Michael's suggestion, I am going to recommend Sibley's new pocket guide addition for Eastern US. It is one of the better I have seen and not nearly as cumbersome as his others.
