Hello Forum!
I've been having a ball here feeding the birds. I finally figured out yesterday that my hairy woodpeckers don't just have one baby this year, they have twins! I've never seen this before but it's been pretty funny watching and listening to them. They sure are noisy!! It's getting a little rough for them now though as mom is starting to push them away. I watched one baby this morning sitting on my Hydro pole (electrical utility pole) and he was just squawking for all he was worth. Then he'd look down at the seed bell and suet feeder and squawk some more. Too funny! I've also got my Whiskey Jacks (Gray Jays) back full time now and they also brought me two babies this year! They are adorable. They look like they just flew out of someone's dirty chimney. I still have the usual crew that remembered me all through nesting season and come instantly to my hand to feed. I love it! How did everyone else make out with nesting season this year? |

Hi Tammie
the spring seemed quiet, lots of birds and no young about, except the Starlings very depressing and then last weekend we had Robins, Blue Tits, Greenfinches and House Sparrow, like Bert they are decimating the feeders - well worth it though regards Pete |

Hello Tammie.
An E. bluebird pair has so far produced 8 young, and they have their third nest has just been completed and has 4 eggs incubating. Also from boxes I put up, we got 8 tit mouse chicks and 7 chickadee chicks. Nesting elsewhere, but visiting my feeders are young downy w.p.s, red-bellied w.p.s, white-breasted nuthatches, cardinals, bluejays, crows, and at least one cowbird. I love nesting season; so much activity!! Alicia |

Hi Tammie:
I have been anxiously waiting for Northern Flicker young to show. The parents have been very busy feeding for the last week or so. The nest is approx. 30 feet up a poplar tree in my front yard. Very good view but my neck is getting permanently crooked!!!! The family of ravens are doing very well. The younguns spend alot of time flying up and down our road - proably learning about road kill. They usually escort my car the kilometre up the road to my driveway I haven't seen any chickens yet nor have I had a chance to hop in the canoe to the other side of the lake to check on the loons, cranes, gulls, ducks, terns, etc.
