Seawatching

During 2 1/2 months of daily seawatching earlier this year I occasionally jotted down points with a view to compiling some hints and tips. I've started going back through my notebooks and have published a page of what I have thus far here.

Hope some of you find it useful

Like this too Julian. Good point on squalls, which were a big factor in my seawatching days in Islay. A bit less important here on the east coast, although we get much less 'squally' weather than in the west.

Thanks, this is something I would really like to get into, but so far kids and work always put a spanner in the works. I am hoping to get out this weekend.

Cheers
Kas

Great stuff. I don't get that many chances in a year but have been indulging for many years and relate to these tips, particularly the use of binoculars. I love the concept of the 'jukseholmen'.

I pored through most of your website and have it bookmarked now. Great job!
It wasn't until my recent vacation that I became even remotely interested about sea birding. But for some reason it really began to appeal strongly to me. When I got to Acadia National Park last month, I was really struggling to decide whether to spend 12 hours on the Nova Scotia Ferry or spend the day birding the southern end of Desert Island. After much soul searching I remained on dry land. But that was because I knew I was going on a Monterey Bay whale-watching trip the next week and I spent that trip ticking lifer sea birds.
