Q&A, Swiss Alps
Been out a lot as my dog is missing @ 2,700 masl since Saturday :-(
Haven't had time to do any research at all - just get home, sleep, get out again searching for the dog. He ran off into the mist chasing a yound female in heat. Darn these females - driving the men crazy! The golden eagles are out hunting - very worrying. All taken at Cassons / Flimserstein. [1] Originally assumed a snow finch, was in snow finch territory. But all the red feathers? [2] Again in snow finch territory, just the speckled head - is that normal? [3] Look carefully - 10 steinbock - mothers and children. One false step and they fall 150m! [4] Red kite? This was a big surprise, I was looking for the dog when this one flew by. Not normally seen up here - 2,300 masl. [5] Was half hoping to see some ptarmigan, almost stepped on this young lady. She didn't move at all while I took this shot then backed off. I assume Lagopus mutus? More to follow...

[6] Marmot, many people are confusing these with my missing dog!
[7] Red crossbill? Taken in the late evening gloom some days ago in Laax.

[1] Alpine accentor? This is the first I have seen. I've been told they are up there, just hadn't seen one. Lots of heat haze, not easy to get good photos.

She gave him two chopped sausages and some water, I arrived just over an hour later. So after 4 days on his own in the mountains he had lost over 1kg, his rear paws were raw, and he was happy to see me. He's been washed and is now sleeping the sleep of the true hunter.

Good news about your dog. I think the other mammals (pic. 3) are Chamois.

Good to hear about the dog coming back, take good care of it now - you will have to teach it to use a two way radio.
Great picture of my namesake - Looks to me as if it was on the lookout for the dog.
