Zeiss on ebay...Scam? (1 Viewer)

I fell over this on Ebay....
And im wondering whats wrong with it?

Obviously at 500 USD including a 400 USD eyepiece, there must be something wrong.
I found some others at the same price on ebay.

Anybody heard of fakes or is it just a simple scam or what?

Hello Modo and welcome to Birdforum.

Yes, it's most definately a scam. Don't touch it. The seller is asking you to contact him by an email address outside of the Ebay system. He will then ask for payment by Western Union or Moneygram, which leaves no audit trail. The payment can be picked up anywhere in the world and is untraceable. Your money is gone with no comeback. You can't ask Ebay because you have broken their terms. If you check the sellers other items, they are all listed at the same time and are listed way below normal selling prices. It could be his account has been hacked.

Definately a scam. General rule of thumb - if someone's asking you to email them at a different address because the one registered with Ebay (i.e. the address a query would go to if you clicked the 'ask seller a question button') prominently like that auction, it's most likely a scammer.

Same here, I reported it too, Ebay are usually fairly good when you report things like this, i've reported a load of scam Leica/Swarovski binocular auctions and they've been pulled usually within a couple of hours.
