Chough at South Stack

Got several pix of the choughs at South Stack on Anglesey, on 12th Sept. Here's one of the better ones.

Olympus C700UZ on full 10x optical zoom. Cropped with Photoshop

Hi Helen.
I love your shots very much, thanks for sharing them.
I see that you are useing the Olympus-c-700 which I consider to buy instad of my old SLR Nikon That was stolen. Whold you recomand that camera? Is it good for digiscoping?

Hi Avi,
The Olympus C700 is really not suitable for digiscoping. I have tried, but the diameter of the lens is too big and you get a lot of vignetting. For examples, see the pages on digiscoping on my website:
http://naturephotography.homestead.com

It is a good camera for when you can get reasonably close to a bird, but I wish it was more than 2.1 megapixels. I saw some info on a mailorder website <http://www.ssdonline.com>, that Olympus have just brought out a new camera (C720) that is 3.3 megapixels and 8X optical zoom. It was priced at about US$500.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 4500 for digiscoping, but haven't done much lately. Am waiting for the cooler weather to arrive here in south Texas, before I get back out into the field.

Hope this helps.
Helen
