Hi,
People have been complaining about the high CA of the Minox BD BR which is the model above the new BL,so it's no wonder that the BL suffers from it too.Considering that Minox binoculars are well overpriced compared to the competition,I was very sceptical when I heard that their new range would retail at around £240. I've just purchased a Helios AM-6 10x50 from their top of the range roof models for just £235 (you can read my review on this site),and although there is a noticeable CA,these are overall very good binoculars for the money and probably better than the new Minox BL BR. |

it's an internal focusing porroprism binocular, fully nitrogen waterproof. the optics have to be seen to be believed, however they do have a slow focus some people can adapt to this..i couldn't! the opticron verano's are a very a nice roofprism, they can be found for around £250ish. then there are the numerous porros from nikon, bushnell, swift etc matt |

Sorry, one question I have to ask and also a personal finding...
Was the CA not noticeable on the pair when you tried them in the shop? and the personal finding... When using the 10x42 Asph or 10x42 BL with glasses I do get a small amount of CA with them. Its present but barely noticeable when I use them with contact lenses. I also have a personal tendency not to look straight through the bins (ie look at a slight upwards angle) which will always exacerbate what CA there may be no matter what make or model of bins you use. Saying that, I get yellow CA when looking in the rear view mirror of the car with glasses on!! Dave. |
