Birding in West Australia?

Hi there,

I'm starting to make plans for a trip through West Australia late summer, and was wondering if there's more info to find than the (rather old) "The Complete Guide To Finding Birds Of Australia" By Thomas and Thomas. I know there's a guide of Perth and surroundings, but I'm more interested in the Kimberly's and the area between Broome and Perth. Anyone any good suggestions? Websites with info are also very welcome!

thanks everyone,
Luc

The sites mentioned so far are great, I especially like the detail Frank goes into, pity he hasn't put in info for all the sites listed.

Broome Bird Observatory has a website - www.broomebirdobservatory.com which has a bit of info about Broome birds on it. I also recommend http://www.kimberleybirdwatching.com.au/ and http://turnstonenaturediscovery.com.au/

Some more places in the Kimberley
http://www.australianwildlife.org/mornington4.asp
Parry's Lagoon (no website)
Kimberley Wilderness Camp
even Kununarra caravan park is very good I've been told.

On the way down a few places to investigate are -
80 mile beach
Millstream-Chichester National Park
Karijini National Park
Kalbarri National Park
Lake McLeod

Around Perth
Herdsman Lake
Lake Monger
Bibra Lake
Lake Joondalup
Bold Park
Whiteman Park
John Forrest National Park
Mundaring Weir
Lake McLarty
Peel Inlet
Lakes Clifton and Preston

In the south
Dryandra State Forest
Shannon National Park
D'entrecasteux National Park
Lake Dumbleyung
Stirling Ranges
Fitzgerald River National Park
Two People's Bay/Cheyne's Beach/Waychinicup Inlet
