Hi all
You all seem pretty pleased with the ED50 but is the Nikon Spotter 16-48x60 XL comparable or better (due to larger diameter objective).
It is available for only US$359, compared to close to US$600 for the smaller ED50.

I'd love your opinions and reasons.

I asked the same question some months ago, can't remember what thread. I liked the look of the XL, streamlined and simple. I got a lot of advice, most of which also escapes me, but I think the gist was that the XL doesn't have ED glass. I've just bought the ED50, and really, it has to be seen to be believed.
