A QUAINT BAN=bananaquit (A name you see once and never forget)
CECIL SKIDS=Dickcissel

This is much better than work!

PS: If your correction of Nancy is significant I think I might be on to the theme.

Don't blame me if that site's not correct - harrrumph.

It is definitely in the S & M scientific name Pachycare flavogrisea.

I did find it on some other sites.

B****r!
I came up with Plover and Crest but didn't know there was a bird called Plovercrest. Will have to get myself an International Bird list. Is there somewhere on the Internet that I can find that sort of information?
You do a terrific job, Birdman, but I am usually 2 or 3 days too late to get any answers in. That is my excuse anyway!

Thanks for that site name Birdman. It is not 'available' right now but I have saved it for later use. Hope I can get the answers to a few more of your teasers with it's help.

The fact is there are no sites on the web that give an absolutely 100% accurate list of world birds - if such a thing exists at all.

As part of the GGBC I have been taking a Sibley and Monroe list and updating it for splits etc etc. It's a mind boggling job and I'm sure in nearly 9800 bird names there must be some mistakes.

The site grousemore points you to is pretty good and is not just a list - containing useful info. But I take no responsibility for its contents!
