White-breasted Kingfisher

White-breasted Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis)
That is the bigest and most common Kingfisher over here.
A Kingfisher that hardly feeds on fish and can be found far away from water like that guy (or lady) wich I photogarphed last spring at it's nesting territory which is at a big hall in the ground at an archeological site.

Nikon-F-301 SLR camera
with 300mm lans.

Lovely photo Avib, you are very lucky to be able to see these birds. What do they eat if they don't eat fish?

Hi Dylan.
The WB Kinkfisher eat every other animal it can swollow: mainly incects but olso mice, lizards, litlle snakes and even small birds.
I'v onece sow one snapping a Chif-chaf from a brunch, it was so fast I could hardly get what was happning. Its a very impresive bird.

Hi Avib, congratulations on getting the shot. I'd love to get a photo of one of our Kingfishers, but I have never been in teh right place at the right time for a decent shot.
