A Grand Day Out at my Local Park & Cammo Estate
Since it's been a glorious sunny day today I thaught I'd have a nice afternoon birdwatching. I decided to go to my 2 Local Patches even though I've not been to them for quite some time. Anyway I decided to go down to my local park, it was nice & pleasent not many people apart from the kids on the swings so at my park I saw
Blackbird Juvinille Blackbird Bullfinch(first time I've seen them in 2 years) Willow Tit After that I headed down to Cammo Estate there were alot of dog walkers but they didn't bother me much I went in around footpaths and saw the following Blue Tit Robin Mallard Jackdaw Magpie Blackbird Heron I think for me the Heron was the highlight for me as it was stalking and catching fish in the pond. Normally When I see a Heron they are standing still but seeing it stalk was worth while. After the continue walking I decided to call it a day was getting to warm. But I have to say I saw a lot more birds then I normally do when I go to these places. A Grand Day Out 1.00pm-2.45pm

Bit out of touch with birding in and around Edinburgh (I lived there 12 years ago), but I seem to recall that Willow Tits were are real rarity (as were Marsh Tits). Unless things have changed, that's quite a find!

Hey Euan,
You must be at my end of the city! And therefore not far from Corstorphine Hill - generally quite quiet people wise (unless you're at the Drumbrae end on a wednesday, when there'll be a few kids kicking around!), but full of birds - nip up there next time. At least four buzzards resident too, which are a bit surreal to watch floating around above a hill in the middle of the city.

Well everyone will get a even more detailed story on my birding day out as I wrote to Birdwatching Magazine on my Best Birding Ever page so you'll see it if it gets published.

Marsh Tit formerly bred in the Deans of East Lothian, but are now thought to be extinct as a breeding species there. As for Willow Tit the last confirmed sighting was in 1984 !
