Hummingbird Behavior ?
twice this spring, our local anna's have built a nest and incubated 2 eggs to hatching, but within two weeks of birth, one of the two chicks has died or been lost. In the first nest (see link below) the chick disappeared and in the second it looks like the chick was pushed out of the nest and is now currently hanging off the side dead (no pictures this time). I realize it gets tight in the nest and I am wondering if maybe this is normal behavior to reduce the cramped spaces. Anyone know if this is normal?
You can see the pictures from the March birth to flight here, http://biteyourbum.com/photo_gallery...s.php?album=68 Thanks Jim |
