Question external video with coolpix 4500

Has somebody used an external USB video box with a laptop?

The idea is to replace the little LCD screen of the Coolpix with the big screen of my laptop.

Hauppauge has an external box that can do the job (maybe ?)

What do you think about ?

For astronomy I hook my 4500 to my telescope then to my laptop using a belkin cable. Then I have a program called "HocusPocus" that shows what I'm looking at on my screen. Makes it much easier to focus.
