I'd have to agree - Peregrine Falcon.

I'm not convinced it isn't just a Sparrowhawk - no telling how much leg length and tail length is in the water, and the plumage detail is so blurred!

My initial reaction was Peregrine and I'm sticking with that.

Thanks, CJW. Can't you tell it was mistreated by it's mother when young and hence is emotionally scarred for life!

Peregrine
Fallen out of nest and brought up by, and imprinted on, a Grey Heron.

Hey, Grousemore... we've all gone down the "raptor" road (although I must confess I was led)... so are we right???

(If we've got the family wrong - I've got an alternative suggestion... but I won't say what yet, as every word I am typing may be making me look even more stupid!!!)

Anyone notice the second bird on the mud, top left?

Not sure what it is, if anything it looks vaguely Greenfinchy but far too blurred to identify

That is, if it is a bird at all!!

Thanks all for taking part;I thought the water would make it confusing, but it was indeed a Peregrine.
It was taken at Dungeness RSPB on 18 September last.
Well done to those who got it (without plumage detail!)and I'm glad no suggestions were made for Honey Buzzard!

If it's a bird of any sort - it knocks my "might not be a raptor" theory for six... I'll get back in me box!!!
