Cp 5700
I am in the throws of buying a new camera. The Nikon CP 5700 seems great to me for taking pictures, but can it be used for digiscoping?
I hope this is not a silly question..I'm very new to this!! thanks in advance |

Hi (Lea?) I'm afraid the cp5700 is not going to be a suitable camera for digiscoping use, very good general camera as it is. The older Nikon cp990/cp995/4500 are still the best choice.... though they're not really cutting edge cameras these days (though great for macro shots).
Digital cameras with good telephoto capabilities (6x zoom+) are generally poor when used with a scope, even though ideal for bird photography when the subject is close to you. This is a bit of a shame as you really need two cameras to cover digiscoping (successfully) and have a camera capable of quick shots of close birds. Best regards, Andy

Thanks for your quick reply Andy. I'm trying to watch what I do and I do need a good overall camera. I'm thinking between the Oly C750 and the Nikon CP 5700 for general pictures, and birding too.
I wasn't sure of the 5700 for digiscoping, and now I am, so I thank you so much. I continue to think between these two cameras now. I have more questions, so I just have to figure out where to post them.. Lea |
