The Woodie turned up agin today. I'm watching the golf but spotted him. It's raining and the camera is upstairs. Shall I-shan't I?? Rushed up for the camera, crept up and manage these before he went-they are so fast arn't they.

Nice photos. It's a juvenile of course, because it has a red head.

A couple of classic shots there David. I too have been in your position many a time, camera up stairs & something turns up in my garden, then it's one big rush. Certainly payed off for you today, well done.

ROD.

Nice shots, and a small break from watching a European lead the Golf.

Well, David, you did better than I, and I was sitting out there with camera in hand, (my last post in gallery). And, talking about fast,............like a speeding bullet.

You picked up a nice birdie there, David. Well up to par. No, I'm not going to say anything about green woodpeckers! Sorry about the puns! Seriously, well done, excellent pics!

The adult male Great Spotted Woodpeckers have red on the back of the head, whereas, the juveniles have red on top of the head.

*The adult female does not have any red on the head.
